AHRQPublic Access Policy
On February 22, 2013, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) released the memorandum entitled "Increasing Access to the Results of Federally Funded Scientific Research." This memorandum requires Federal agencies to make the results of federally funded scientific research available to and useful for the public, industry, and the scientific community.
In response, AHRQpublished its plan in 2015 for establishing a policy for public access to scientific publications and scientific data in digital format resulting from AHRQfunding, the AHRQPublic Access Policy for Scientific Publications in 2016, and AHRQData Management Plan Policy in 2020.
AHRQintends, to the fullest extent possible and contingent on the availability of funds, to make available to the public all scientific publications and data arising from unclassified research and programs funded wholly or in part by ÌÇÐÄVlog.

This document is the ÌÇÐÄVlog's (ÌÇÐÄVlog's) plan for establishing a policy for public access to scientific publications and scientific data in digital format resulting from AHRQfunding. AHRQintends, to the fullest extent possible and contingent on the availability of funds, to make available to the public all scientific publications and data arising from unclassified research and programs funded wholly or in part by ÌÇÐÄVlog.
AHRQPublic Access Policy for Scientific Publications
The AHRQPolicy for Public Access to AHRQfunded Scientific Publications requires that ÌÇÐÄVlog-funded authors submit an electronic version of the author’s final peer-reviewed accepted manuscript to the National Library of Medicine's PubMed Central (PMC) upon acceptance by the journal, and to be made publicly available within 12 months of the publisher’s date of publication. This Policy applies to AHRQintramural researchers, extramural recipients of AHRQgrants and cooperative agreement awards; and AHRQcontractors conducting research.
AHRQData Management Plan Policy
This policy requires applicants for AHRQnew/competing grants and research contracts to include a DMP for managing, storing and disseminating the primary data, samples, physical collections and other supporting materials created or gathered in the course of research funded by ÌÇÐÄVlog, or state why data management is not possible, as a component of their grant application or research contract proposal. AHRQintramural researchers are also expected to submit a DMP with their research proposal. Moreover, all new grant and cooperative agreement applications, and contract proposals are encouraged to include a section detailing the applicants' progress and/or experience to-date with sharing data in digital format arising from previous AHRQfunding.
This policy applies to AHRQintramural researchers and extramural recipients of AHRQgrants and research contracts, unless otherwise specified in the funding opportunity announcement or request for proposals. This policy applies to all scientific metadata in digital format arising from AHRQfunding.
